Bracknell Town Centre
We exist to promote a visible and public Christian presence in Bracknell town centre, to bring local churches together, and to reach out to new residents and all who live and work in Bracknell. Our aim is to bring us all one step closer together and one step closer to God.
Our Chaplain visits shops, Lexicon employees and those working independently in our town. We connect with the police, security staff, Bracknell and Wokingham College and those providing local services.
The Town Centre Mission provides a listening ear and stands alongside people to help them see the value in their work and lives. The Chaplain signposts people to local community projects, churches and sources of practical and pastoral support.
Our Town Centre Chaplains
Today the day-to-day work of the Mission is carried out by our Town Centre Chaplains – a regular and friendly presence among the shops, businesses and services of Bracknell. The wider Town Centre Mission continues to bring local churches together, but it is our chaplains you are most likely to meet out and about in the town.
This chaplaincy has grown out of many years of Christian presence in the town centre. What began as pioneer ministry has, over time, developed into a chaplaincy – simply walking alongside people where they work and live, offering time, encouragement and a listening ear.
Faith in the Town Centre
Our ministry is underpinned by prayer. We pray for Bracknell, for those who live and work here, and for the people and organisations serving our town. We particularly pray for opportunities to serve well, for those who need support, for strong relationships and trust across the community, and for our chaplains and volunteers.
The Mission also creates opportunities for a visible Christian presence at significant moments throughout the year. These include carol singing at Christmas and the Walk of Witness on Good Friday, alongside other occasions that bring people and churches together.
Practical Support
Part of our role is helping people find the support they need. Through our relationships across Bracknell, our chaplains can signpost people towards local services and community projects, including practical help such as food and clothing support, as well as churches and other organisations able to offer further assistance.
Working Together
The Town Centre Mission seeks to build relationships between the churches of Bracknell and the wider community. We encourage churches across the town to work together and create opportunities for conversation and engagement with other faith communities, local organisations, businesses and public services.
